Travis Freshner, trumpet, is a first-generation musician originally from Keizer, Oregon. He received his BM from the University of Oregon in the spring of 1999 and will receive his MM in the spring of 2001 from Western Michigan University. He has held principal positions with the Oregon Opera Ensemble, Rocky Mountain Chamber Symphony and the Rocky Mountain Festival Orchestra; He has also performed with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Mozart Players, Oregon Festival of American Music, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo BachFest, Western Slope Music Festival and the National Repertory Orchestra. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Furious Band. As a sideman, he has performed with artists such as Kim Richmond, Clay Jenkins, Marian McPartland and Lee Thornburg.

In addition to performance, Travis is also an avid composer and arranger of solo and chamber music for brass; he has received commissions from groups such as the award-winning Extension Ensemble and has published several arrangements of sets of Italian and Spanish madrigals for brass quintet. He has studied trumpet with George Recker, Richard Frazier, Dr. Stephen Jones, Kevin Cobb, Lou Ranger, Ray Mase and is currently a student of Scott Thornburg.
