Here are some other killin' groups. If you know what's good for you, you'll check them out, too. Peace.

The After Quartet - A phenominal quartet (tpt/flugel/EVI, guitar, bass, percussion) that writes filmscores for silent films, then tours the country performing the new music along with a showing of the film. Absolutely incredible playing, writing, and thinking.

Boston Brass - A quintet based in Boston. Killin' players playing music ranging from Shostakovich to Ellington. This is the only brass quintet I've heard that doesn't sound dumb playing jazz.

Endy Emby - Trumpet/Percussion duo originally from Oregon, now based in New York City. This group has certainly done their part in expanding the repertoire for this instrumentation, commissioning many compositions from a wide array of composers.

The Extension Ensemble - Award winning group (Fischoff, New York Brass Conference) based in New York City. All the members are recent Juilliard School graduates. The group just completed their first season as an ensemble-in-residence at the Aspen Music Festival and School.

Ralph Nader - Government by the people, not by monied interests.

Rova Saxaphone Quartet -the acclaimed all-saxophone ensemble, has fundamentally extended the horizons of music since forming in 1977. Positioning themselves at music's most dynamic nexus, Rova has become an important leader in the movement of genre-bending music that has its roots in post-bop free jazz, avant-rock, and 20th century new music as well as traditional and popular styles of Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States. With its potent mix of stellar musicianship and compositional creativity, Rova explores the synthesis of composition and collective improvisation.
