Scotty Toth, trumpet, has been playing the trumpet for about eleven years. Starting in the sixth grade, he chose the trumpet because of the majestic sounds of trumpeters he heard on PBS specials. Although he originally intended to study engineering, he choose to study music and recently received his BM from Michigan State University in trumpet performance where he studied with Rich Illman. Being primarily a classical player, Scott has played with many orchestras, both large and small; he has performed with his youth orchestra, honors orchestras, the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra, the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra, the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra and the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra. In addition to orchestras, he has played in many theatrical productions including the Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, My Favorite Year and Verdi's La Traviata. He has also played solos for many occasions, including the Mid-West Music Conference at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Scott is currently a student of Dr. Stephen Jones.
